HIDE STORE AWARD
COMPLETE AGREEMENT REACHED. INCREASES IN PAY GIVEN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Agrement was reached in the Conciliation Council yesterday between wool, grain and hide store employees and employers. The employers offered a general increase of 5 per cent, in all rates of pay. This the employees’ assessors agreed to but remained firm on extra pay for men working with green hides. After several adjournments employers granted an extra penny an hour. An amendment to the existing award was made providing for the payment of Is 3d tea money wnen men were called on to work overtime after 6 p.m. on any day but after 1 p.m. on the half holiday. The present rate is Is. An additional clause provides that when the men are working under wet conditions they shall be provided with gum boots or clogs. The award will take effect from November 1 and will remain operative until September 30, 1936.
