ONE EXPERT WITNESS REMAINS.'
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night.
The hearing of charges of defrauding the chief post office at Auckland of sums amounting to £4550 against Laul Edward Din, a clerk, aged 23 years, and his mother, Madeline Elizabeth Din, was continued before Mr. Justice Fair in the Supreme Court. II is alleged that by false pretences and forgery Din cashed cheques for £lBOO on April 1, £9OO on July 12 and £lB5O on August 1. His mother is joined with him in the charge relating to the £lB5O. Such rapid progress was made that 29 witnesses were heard to-day and only one more handwriting expert now remains to be heard to complete the Crown case. Financial dealings by the two accused and the sisters of Din were described in the evidence of about 20 officials of the Auckland Post Office Savings Bank and of banks at Auckland and at Wellington.
