The leader of the Democrat Party, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, arrived at Dunedin from the south to-night and addressed a fairly large audience in the concert chamber of the town hall. The address was on the lines of speeches made in other parts of the country, practically no new ground being broken. A large number of people showed annoyance when Mr. Hislop refused to answer questions at the close of the address and left the hall before a vote of thanks was put to the meeting. The motion was carried.
