DOUGLAS CREDIT

LORD BLEDISLOE NOT SUPPORTER.

NELSON CANDIDATE’S ADDRESS.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, Oct 24. Mr. Herbert Everett, National Government candidate for the Nelson seat, addressed his first main meeting of the campaign last evening. There was a fair attendance. The candidate strongly supported the Government s monetary policy and opposed Douglas credit monetary reform. He said the Dominion was making sure progress on sound lines. In reference to remarks made in various parts of New Zealand associating Lord Bledisloe with Douglas credit Mr. Everett read a letter from Lord Bledisloe emphatically denying any support whatever of this movement, which he termed an unattractive and unconvincing gospel. Lord Bledisloe added that while he thought an improvement 'could be made in monetary matters this must be on the' lines of financial orthodoxy. A vote of thanks was enthusiastically carried.
