ACTIVITIES OF FIRE BRIGADE. NEW PLYMOUTH BOARD MEETING. The New Plymouth fire brigade station will be repainted and reglazed as a result of a decision at the quarterly meeting of the New Plymouth Fire Board yesterday. The' superintendent, who made application on behalf' of the brigade, was also given power to act in procuring eight floor mats, smoke and gas masks and to order the concrete for repairing the bell stand. The smoke and gas masks will be procured in case of calls to buildings where chemicals are stored. . . The brigade superintendent, Mr. A. Boon, reported that the quarter ending September 30 had been quiet, eight alarms being received, compared with seven for the previous quarter. ine alarms were two for property, two for rubbish and three to chimneys, one being a malicious false alarm. ... j During the quarter two had joined and two resigned from the brigade. Fireman H. Inch resigned after 39 year? active service and Auxiliary Lile resigned to take up a similar position with the Wellington brigade. The membership was 23 officers and men. The deputy-, superintendent had recovered from an accident and was taking an active par in the work of the brigade. It was decided to write a letter of congratulation to Fireman Inch on his long service Tho'se present were Messrs. E. J. can, W. C. Weston and P. L Bennett, buperintendent A. Boon also attended.
