CAME TO SEE WIFE

STOWAWAY ABOARD MARAMA. PASSENGERS COLLECT FARE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 15. William Eric O'Connor, aged 22, while working at Sydney, heard that his wife was not in the best of health so he returned to New Zealand, stowing away on the Marama. He was convicted in court to-day and ordered to come up for sentence within 12 months if called. He was ordered to pay his fare, £6 10s forthwith. The money was paid into court by a passenger on the boat, who said he had canvassed other passengers and collected the money.
