FEAST OF WRESTLING
TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIPS.
BLOMFIELD AND GLEN WADE.
This week is one of the busiest for the New Plymouth Wrestling Association, and most interesting for all wrestling fans. All bouts will be conducted at the Coronation hall,. New Plymouth, commencing at 8 to-night with the amateur championships, following on again on Friday, with the grand finale on Saturday night, when the amateur finalists will provide the preliminaries for the professional contest, Lofty Blomfield versus Glen Wade. With close on 60 nominations in the amateurs exciting and interesting bouts will be witnessed. Naturally the great draw-card will be . the Blomfield-W<_de contest, and nothing short of a high class contest is guaranteed by the association. The wonderful response to Lofty’s appearance at New Plymouth two weeks ago was proof of the confidence patrons have in New Zealand’s own matman. In the contest on Saturday night patrons will witness a match brimful of action of a heavy nature. Wade is recognised as one of the four best men in the ring in New Zealand to-day and a type resembling George Walker. He is a hard wrestler, experienced and genuine. These- men have met on three occasions and are on equal terms, and New Plymouth is again fortunate in obtaining a match of this nature. A “bumper” house is assured. To avoid disappointment extra seating accommodation is being provided and patrons are urged to avail themselves of the booking facilities by making their reservations or procuring tickets from Chum Roberts, Devon Street, New Plymouth, telephone 600. No extra charge is made for reservations.
