TAINUI ATHLETIC CLUB

AFTERNOON SPORTS GATHERING.

The second afternoon’s sports meeting arranged by the Tainui Athletic Club was held at Mokau at the week-end. The weather was favourable, but the number of starters was again disappointing, although there were two new riders for the cycling events.

Results are:— , Senior cycle race, over an eight-mile course: G. Holloway (3m), 26m. 295, 1; H. Bryant (Im), 2; G. Cronin (3m), 3. H. Bryant secured fastest time in . 25m 28s. Junior cycle race (three miles): A. Price (30s), 11m 525, 1 and fastest; D. Huia (455), 12m 575, 2; M. Phillips (60s), 3. School Dance. With the object of raising funds for the Mokau school, a successful dance was held in the Mokau hall on Saturday. It was well patronised by Mokau and Awakino residents. Music . was supplied by Mrs. N. Taylor, extras being played by Mrs. W. B. Martin. Mr. G. Scott was master of 'ceremonies.
