TAUMARUNUI CLINIC
HOSPITAL BOARD’S DECISION.
OUTCOME OF DEPUTATION.
(Special to Daily News.) Taumarunui, Oct 14.
A deputation comprising Dr. S. A. Shore, director of hospitals, and Mr. J, K. Homblow, chairman of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, waited on the Taumarunui Hospital Board on Saturday to ask its co-operation in the establishment of a chain of clinics to secure earlier treatment for tuberculosis cases and better service generally. Dr. Shore said that the deputation had visited other centres and had been the means of inducing hospital boards to establish tuberculosis clinics at New Plymouth, Hawera, Stratford, Wanganui, Napier, Wairarapa, Gisborne and Hamilton. In every case the project had the unanimous support of the boards. It was intended to complete an extensive campaign to secure more adequate control of tuberculosis in New Zealand. Mr; Homblow outlined the history of the fight against tuberculosis and the establishment of sanitoriums in various parts of New Zealand.
The board decided to establish a tuberculosis clinic at the Taumarunui hospital.
