SOUTHERN LANDING GROUNDS.

Preliminary iinvestigations for the construction of six emergency landing grounds in North Canterbury have been completed by the Public Works Department. The works are part of the scheme recently announced by the Minister of Unemployment, the Hon. S. G. Smith, to undertake the construction of a string of aerodromes and landing grounds throughout the Dominion for the use if necessary of aeroplanes when regular transport services start shortly. The sites are along the line of the principal route for the services. No sites have been definitely selected but the following- grounds have been investigated: Motunau river mouth, Hurunui river mouth, Conway river mouth, Amuri Bluff, Kaikoura suburban, Hapuka.
