SECRETARY OF HARBOUR BOARD.

AUCKLAND OFFICER ’’’O RETIRE.

The superintendent and secretary of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mr. H. B. Burnett, will retire on superannuation -t the close of 12 months’ leave of absence on full pay to begin on December 31. This decision was confirmed at a meeting of the board to-day. On December 31 Mr. Burnett will have completed 25 years’ service with the board, first as secretary, then as secretary and treasurer, and later as superintendent and secretary.

The chairman, Mr. Maclndoe, said a representative gathering would be held later to farewell Mr. Burnett.
