INGLEWOOD HOUSE AFIRE

DWELLING SAVED BY BRIGADE. The Inglewood fire brigade received a call at 3.30 p.m. yesterday to Maire Street, where a fire was discovered in the eaves Of Mrs. Frewin’s house. The brigade responded promptly and saved the property. A little damage was done by fire and water.

Mrs. Frewin had just left the house when the fire was noticed by a neighbour, who telephoned and the siren was sounded from the post office. The origin of the fire is thought to have been a spark from a chip-heater blowing under the barge boards and landing in a bird’s nest, as the remains of a bird’s nest were discovered.
