OPEN RANGE SEASON OPENS. INTER-HOUSE MINIATURE SHOOT. The New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club was favoured with fine weather on Saturday afternoon for the opening day of the' season. Visitors were present from the Okato and Okoke Rifle Clubs, tire secretary, Mr. Armitage, providing refreshments. A teams match was fired, the highest four scores counting. Details are:—

At the miniature range on Thursday night an inter-offices’ match was fired, six teams talcing part. The standard of shooting was very good as those shooting, with one or two exceptions, had never fired with the aperture sight before. The match was won by J. B. MacEwan’s No. 1 team, with Lands and Survey No. 1 team second. Further matches are being arranged. Scores were;— J. B. Mac Ewan’s No. 1: S. Pruden 69, C. Lobb 67, F. Quinn 63, P. Smith 63, S.
