INJURIES TO A SHEARER. ACCIDENT WITH AN ENGINE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Compensation amounting to £l3B was awarded Irwyn Turner, a shearer of French Pass, by the Arbitration Court in a 'reserved judgment to-day in an action against Hervey Richard Duncan, a brewer, Nelson. Turner was endeavouring to start an engine in Duncan’s shearing shed when the cranking handle came out of its socket and struck him on the knee'.

Compensation was based on the average earnings during a shearing season.
