VINEYARDS STRIKE
PICKERS ASK HIGHER WAGES. WHOLE HARVEST THREATENED. By Telegraph—Press Assii.—Copyright. Paris, Sept. 10. Forty thousand grape pickers in the Narbonne district have struck, the men demanding 8s a day and the women 5s 3d with a daily wine ration of five pints for men and 3J for women. The vignerons offered 9d less and no wine ration. It is feared that the strike will spread, threatening the whole of the wine harvest.
