FIRST ISSUE OVER-SUBSCRIBED.

MORTGAGE INVESTMENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Sir William Hunt, chairman of the board of management of the Mortgage Corporation announced to-day that the £500,000 issue of 3 3-8 per cent, securities, which was recently placed on the market, and applications for which closed yesterday, had been over-sub-scribed. The approximate total of .subscriptions was slightly in excess of £600,000. , , , . As applications had been lodged at post offices, banks, etc., all over the Dominion, it would be several days before the full details were recorded. Allotments, however, would be made at an early date and on present indications it may be concluded that the majority of applicants would receive allotments in full while larger parcels would be reduced.
