PROSPECTS BRIGHTER

DOMINION’S FRUIT INDUSTRY. CITRUS GROWING DEVELOPMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The fruitgrowers’ conference was opened to-day by the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates said the future of the industry was much brighter but the day of haphazard competitive methods had outlived its usefulness and collective discussion and agreements were essential. Mr. Macmillan referred to the work and organisation that had already been done and forecast a rapid advance in settlement through the progress of citrus fxuit-growing. He said the federation, the Fruit Board and officers of the department had all worked in perfect harmony to overcome the difficulties.
