WRECKER’S MARK

NOT TO BE REHANDICAPFED. SMALL TROTTING PRIZE WON. J By Telegraph-r Press Association. Christchurch, Sept. IJ. When Wrecker dead-heated, for first place in the Metropolitan Handicap at the benefit trotting meeting it was assumed that 1. ould receive the customary penalty of 12 yards, which would place hint on 4m 275, and thus become eligible to compete in tfie next New Zealand Trotting Cup, but the handicapper, Mr. G. Paul, junr., has taken into account the small amount of stake money that Wrecker and Rey Spec earned through dead-heating, and as the money is equivalent only to second prize in races in which Wrecker usually competes and for which he cannot be penalised, Mr. Paul has considered it prudent not to penalise either Wrecker or Rey Spec. The amount of the prize for the Metropolitan Handicap was $5200, of which £2O went to the third horse, thus leaving £lBO to be divided betweon Wrecker and Rey Spec.
