INGLEWOOD COUNTY WORKS. UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF JOBS. A schedule of works to be carried out by unemployed relief labour within the Inglewood county was submitted by Mr. S. C. Judd, engineer, to a meeting of the county council yesterday and approved. The works included cutting off of corners on Junction East Road and Tarata Zig-zag, Autawa and Tariki Road corners (the latter at Junction East end), Bristol (eastern end), Everett, Davis and Otaraoa Road corners. Formation and widening works included the construction of a parking area, gravelling and. draining on Dudley Road east at King’s saleyards parking area; regrading and cutting back corners on the clay portion of Tariki Road; widening and reforming the clay portion of the Mangaone Road; metalling the clay section of Windsor Road; forming and grading Lepper Road from Junction Road to Hursthouse Road; forming Roddy Road from York Road connecting with Clark Road in the Taranaki. county; cutting back corners and widening the clay por? tion of Kohete Road. The Roddy Road ,work is a joint proposal with the Taranaki county, the settlers also contributing. The Inglewood county settlers have already agreed to contribute their share. It was also proposed that the Waipapa stream should be cleaned, deepened and graded, where it flowed parallel to the clay portion of the Tariki Road, the work to be carried out as a Public Works Department relief camp proposal, subsidised by the settlers concerned. Flood damage work to be carried out under the 355-25 s scheme included the construction of a groyne in the Ngatoro River above the Bedford Road bridge south of Dudley Road, and the restoration of the surface of Bedford Road south of Norfolk, from Hastie’s to Ritchie's.

On the suggestion of Cr. Willans, the widening of Ratapiko Road was included. It was decided to contribute £2O towards the work on Dudley East Road. The engineer was instructed to put the works in hand as soon as possible, the chairman expressing the opinion that with the improving conditions the unemployed might not be available much longer.
