BROWN NOT PLAYING

RUGBY TEAM V. HAWKE’S BAY. FOOTBALL MATCHES ARRANGED.

C. Brown (Tukapa), selected as halfback for the Taranaki Rugby team to play Hawke’s Bay at New Plymouth tomorrow, will not now be playing, having developed a throat infection. It is not yet definitely decided who will fill the vacancy, .although W. Dymond (Hawera) will probably be chosen. Otherwise the team will play as selected. . . The Hawke’s Bay team arrived at New Plymouth yesterday from Marton, where it beat Wanganui by 27 to 3 on Wednesday. The players will be seen in action at Pukektira Park this morning, but the team has not yet been selected. Mr. A. O’Sullivan (Stratford) will referee the match. The Taranaki B team to play King Gountry at Taumarunui to-morrow will leave Taranaki by to-night’s Auckland express. J. Heath, Stratford Old Boys, emergency forward, is unable to travel, but three forward emergencies were selected for the B team and it has not been necessary to select another to take Heath’s place. The Taranaki fourth grade final between Tukapa, winner of the semi-final against Stratford, and Waimate will be played at Stratford to-morrow.
