PERSONAL PARAGRAPHS NEW PLYMOUTH Mrs. G. Rawlinson and Miss Doreen Rawlinson, Matau, are visiting New Plymouth. Miss May Ramson was hostess at an enjoyable evening party on Wednesday in honour of her sister, Mrs. K. Duncan, Hunterville. Hostesses at bridge this week have been Mrs. J. Warnock, Miss Gwen Griffith and Mrs. A. S. Clark. Mrs. H. Larsen, who has been Mrs. J. Bremer's guest, has left on her return to Matau. Miss Joyce Smith, who has been the guest of Mrs. C. P. Smith, will return to Auckland this evening. Miss B. Evans is visiting Rotorua, Where she is the guest of Mrs. Bertrand.
Mrs. L. Collinson, who has been the guest of Mrs. M. Pauli, has returned to Palmerston North.
Mrs. A. Perry, Who has been the guest of Mrs. J. L. Perry, returned to Gisborne on Tuesday.
INGLEWOOD Mrs. R. C. Watson was the guest of her mother, Mrs. T. Knofflock, last weekend. Mrs. Patton was a bridge hostess on Thursday evening. Miss Whittington has returned from Hawera, where she has 'been spending the holidays with her sister, Mrs. C. J. McFadyen Miss Claridge, Stratford, is Mrs. F. Price’s guest. Mrs. Barnard entertained on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Miss N. Morrison, who has been the guest of Miss ‘M. McAllum, has returned to Masterton. At her parents’ home, Junction Road, Mrs. R. C. Watson was hostess recently to a number of friends for the silver wedding of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Knofflock. The evening was spent in flag five hundred and community singing. A cake with 25 candles was cut by Mrs. Knofflock. Mrs. A. Gow will leave to-day for Christchurch, where sire will be the guest of Mrs. Allington for some weeks. Miss M. McAllum has returned from Wellington and Wanganui, where she has been spending a few days. HAWERA Miss C. Tonks entertained at bridge on Tuesday evening. . Miss P. Wylds has returned to New Plymouth. Miss P. Graham, who was Miss C. Tonks’ guest for the golf tournament, returned to Waverley yesterday. Mrs. Baker, Raetihi, Mrs. Hargreaves, Hunterville, and Miss E. Hargreaves, Dannevirke, who have been staying with Mrs. W. Howard, have returned to their homes. Miss M. McKenzie was hostess at afternoon tea on Wednesday. Her frock was of blue afgalaine smartly trimmed with blue and white taffetas. Mrs. H. Jones, Misses K. Coleman, N. Duckworth, J. Hunter, P. Wylds, S. Lovell and J. Powdrell were her guests. Midhirst: At the monthly meeting there was a fair attendance despite the inclement weather. A report of the recent central provincial meeting held at Stratford was read as was Mrs. Young’s report of the conference at Wellington. Mrs. Polson’s proposal of an interprovincial exhibition of fine needlework was discussed, members being in favour of the work being can-led out. A letter was received from the Blind Institute ,and Soldiers’ Civil Re-establishment League asking tire help of the branch jp selling their goods and it was decided to send for consignments later on ,in the year. Mrs. Howard gave an account of the work done during the conference at Wellington. The competition for sausage rolls resulted in Mrs. Dill, junr., winning first and second prizes. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Dill, senr., and Mrs. Meads. URENUI FLOWER SHOW WOMEN’S DIVISION DISPLAY. The Urenui branch of the Women’s Division of the Fanners’ Union held a floral display in the Urenui hall. There were large entries of decorated work. Mrs. Lankshear, New Plymouth, judged and gave a demonstration of wiring and making wreaths, sprays, etc. She also pointed out the good and bad points of the entries. The prize-winners were:— Vase of flowers: Mrs. S. Managh 1, Mi's. Sulzberger 2, Mrs. G. Piggott 3. Vase, miniature: Mrs. P. Elliot 1, Mrs. Sulzberger 2, Mrs. Luxton 3. Bowl, miniature: Miss Freeth 1, Mrs. Weeden 2, Miss P. Bleakley 3. Women’s spray: Mrs. Weeden 1, Mrs. Sulzberger 2, Miss P. Bleakley 3. Normanby Coming-of-Age. To mark the coming-of-age of Miss Olive Dombroski, a party was given by Mrs. Dombroski at her home, Mountain Road, Normanby, on Monday evening. To meet her guests Mrs. Dombroski wore an attractive gown of black georgette, Miss Dombroski choosing a pretty frock of pink sillc velvet. About 80 friends gathered from Inglewood, Stratford, Manaia, Hawera and Normanby to congratulate Miss Dombroski, and spent a happy evening playing games and dancing to music supplied by Miss E. Dombroski, Inglewood, and Mr. Deverell. Mr. Greig was master of ceremonies. Miss Dombroski was presented with a fragrant bouquet of freesias and spring flowers in tones of gold. Mrs. Dombroski presented hex- daughter with a large key which had been inscribed by all those present. A large number of 'beautiful gifts was offered Miss Dombroski by her friends, several speakers making reference to her popularity. Mr. Joe Dombroski replied on behalf of his sister.
