WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

Tikorangi: The monthly meeting was presided over by Mfs. Whitehead, who welcomed the visitors, including Mesdames Kaye and Smith, president and secretary of the Taranaki federation. Miss L. Pruden, delegate to the Auckland conference, gave a report. Mrs. Kaye gave an address on the aims and ideals of the institute movement. A demonstration on tire making of silk cushions was given by Mrs. G. Foreman, who later offered a prize for the best cushion made by December by any member. Tire competition for the best three home-made biscuits was won by Mrs. J. Garner. The delegates chosen for the half-yearly federation meeting were Mrs. J. Garner and Miss L. Pruden. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Bevan, Newman and Ritchie. A cup has been presented by three of the members of tire Tikorangi Women’s Institute in memory of the late Mrs. H. A. Foreman, to be named the Foreman Cup and to be competed for each month by the choicest bloom in each member’s garden.
