MISS KAY’S PROSPECTS
DOMINION GOLF TITLE A FORMER CHAMPION
(By
“Stance.”)
Taranaki will probably possess an added interest in the New Zealand women s golf championships this year as Miss O. Kay, one of the Dominion’s foremost women players and a former holder of the title is now a member of the Hawera club. The championships, which will take place on the course of the Wellington Golf Club at Heretaunga in October, are going to attract a great deal of at-
tention on this occasion as included in the field will be the members of the visiting British team. When interviewed a short time ago Miss Kay appeared a little doubtful as to whether she would be able to compete, even though she was hoping to be present. She stated that she was pleased with the golf that she was playing and considered that she was hitting a longer ball than she had done previously. She felt that she had benefited considerably as a result of the experience that she had gained during her trip abroad last year. Golfers throughout Taranaki are keen to see Miss Kay at Heretaunga matching her play against some of the best of those of Great Britain. Last year she was at a disadvantage of having to play on strange courses but there is a general impression that under New Zealand conditions the Hawera player in her present form will prove capable of making amends.
