NEW PLYMOUTH COURT
REMANDS UNTIL MONDAY. Charged with theft as a servant, a young man whose name was suppressed meanwhile appeared before Mr. E. J. Carr, J.P., at the New Plymouth Police Court yesterday and was remanded until Monday. Another man, whose name vzas also suppressed, appeared on a charge of having driven a motor-car while under the influence of liquor. The case arose from an accident in the early hours of yesterday morning when a car driven by the motorist was alleged to have knocked down a tramway employee, Mr. William Leach, engaged in repairs on the tram lines. Mr. Leach received a fractured arm and sprained ankle. An application for a remand by Mr. C. H. Strombom, who appeared for the defendant, was granted, and the defendant was released on bail. t
