DOMINION BADMINTON TITLES. ANDERSON BEATS H. FOW. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. With record entries and players from as far south as Livercargill, the New Zealand, badminton championship tournament opened to-night. A feature of play was the defeat of H. Fow, Auckland, North Island and New Zealand titles holder, by Anderson (Auckland). Results in the A grade, all being Auckland players except where mentioned, were:— Men’s singles:—First round: J. Neale beat Dixon (Wellington), 5 —15, 15—9, 15—3; M. T. Wilson beat Dr. Spencer, 15—7, 15—5. Second round: Anderson beat H. Fow (Hamilton), 9—15, 15—5, .18—15; R. Hull beat Strang (Invercargill), 15—3, 15—9; Whitelaw beat Shale, 15—12, 15—10; I. Ellett beat A. Weir, 10- 15-11, 15-5. Women’s singles:—First round: Mrs. P. Wren beat Miss Mary Wade, 11 —6, 11-

Men’s doubles:—First round: Anderson and Southon beat Lewis and Margison, 15—12, 15—12; Reid and Ridyard (Wellington) beat Dallamore and Speed, 15—9, 15-8. Women’s doubles:—First round: Misses J. Ramsay and M. Wade beat Mrs. Salisbury (Invercargill and Miss K. Waters, 18-15, 15-5.
