£5OO FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS. DOMINION SENDS GREETINGS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 1. Tha New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association recently posted greetings to M. Paderewski, the famous pianist and former Prime Minister of Poland. He is the only honorary life member of the association. In July, 1927, M. Paderewski gave £5OO, the proceeds of a Chopin pianoforte recital at-Wellington, for. the relief of necessitous soldiers in New Zealand. The funds' has been used by the Dominion headquarters of the association to assist a great number of returned soldiers and their dependents. ... The message gives an indication of the type of cases which have been assisted and was despatched to reach M. Paderewski on November 6, his 75th birthday.
