SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT
ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL EVENT. LARGE PROGRAMME OF MATCHES. The comprehensive programme of school sporting activities at New Plymouth will be continued with the tournament of the North Island Primary Schools Football Association to begih on Tuesday. Six teams will be taking part. In connection with the tournament 70 boys will visit New Plymouth, and billets for all but 20 have been found by the billeting committee, it was announced at a meeting of the committee last night. It is hoped that further offers will, be received. Those present at the meeting were Messrs. G. E. Roper (chairman), J. W. Chapman sen., R. Rea, u. Sturmey, P. Gardner,' G. Lawrence and R. J. Page. The visiting teams will arrive on Monday night by the mail train and all, excepting the Wairarapa team, will depart on Friday morning. Arrangements have been made to entertain the boys during the week. However, mos of their time will be taken up in the matches of the tournament as play will bo in progress in morning and afternoon sessions for three days. Following is the programme of games:— Tuesday, September 3. Morning session: Taranaki v. Wairarapa, Wanganui v. Manawatu. Afternoon session: Hawke’s Bay v. Wellington, Wairarapa v. Wanganui, Taranaki v. Manawatu. Wednesday, September 4. Morning session: Wanganui v. Hawke’s Bay, Wellington v. Taranaki. Afternoon session: Manawatu v. Hawke’s Bay, Wanganui v. Taranaki, Wairai rapa v. Wellington.

The programme from the arrival to the departure of ,the boys has | been arranged as follows: — Monday, September 2: 7.45 p.m., arrival of teams; 8 p.m., meet at Burwood for billeting; 9 p.m., annual meeting of North Island Primary Schools’ Football Association. Tuesday, September 3: 9.30 a.m., assembly of teams at Pukekjra Park, civic welcome by Mayor, Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour,' the Hon. S. G. Smith and the Hon. J. McLeod, M.L.C.; 10.30 a.m., opening game of ■tournament; T. 15 p.m., afternoon session. Wednesday, September 4: 10 a.m., morning session of matches; 1.15, afternoon session; 7.30, pictures. Thursday, September 5: 10 a-m., morning session; 1.15 p.m.; afternoon session, 7.30 p.m., social and supper with presentation of trophies. Friday, September 6: Departure of teams (except Wairarapa) by the mail train. ■' ' . . ■ It is also intended to take. two teams each day for a to ir of the town if a sufficient number of motor-car owners offer their vehicles, for the use of the association.
