VISIT OF MODERATOR

SERVICE AT INGLEWOOD,

TWO MEN, ELDERS INDUCTED.

On Tuesday; evening a- large congregation gathered in the'lnglewood Presbyterian Church to extend a welcome’ to the Rev. Dr. J. Dickie, moderator. A short service was held and Dr. Dickie officiated at the ordaining and inducting uf two new • elders, . Mr. John Shepherd, Tariki, and Mr, James Shute junr., Korito. ' The text of his address was taken from St. Matthew 26: 21-22. ; After the service a social was held In the schoolroom when, the Mayor, Mr;,JGibbs, extended a welcome to Dr. Dickie. The Rev. J, M. Blight welcomed him’on behalf of other denominations. The Rev. R. S. Keenan on behalf of the Presby- - terians of Inglewood and. the surround-

ing district thanked Dr. Dickie for his visit’to them.

A short programme was given by Jean Lovell (dance), Mrs. E. H. Braybrooke (recitations), Max (recitations), Mrs. McKeen (songs) and Mr. W. Hinch (songs). . . ■ . - -■ . • The moderator gave an outline of the work in the Theological Hall. ■ Dr. Dickie, who was conveyed on" a! hurricane visit to all the outskirts of the' parish and to the mountain house, said he had listened to Mr. Gibbs’ eulogies of the beauties of the mountain, but haying sqen it 'he was Certain that Mr. Gibbs liad not said nearly enough. Prior to his leaving for Eltham,. Dr. Dickie, together with Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs, was the guest of the Rev. R. Keenan and Mrs. Keenan at morning tea.
