WAREA FACTORY MANAGER. PRESENTATION BY SETTLERS. .’."I 1 1 . ' Appreciation of the work of Mr. F. H. Wells, who after more than 20 years has resigned his position aS manager of the Warea dairy factory, was expressed at a large gathering of Warea settlers last night. , For, more than 20 years Mr. and Mrs. Fowles had been good citizens at Warea, said Mr. C. Wells, who was chairman of the board of directors during Mr. Fowles’ term of office. They had always been to the fore in time of trouble and illness and had taken their full responsibilities in all the social affairs of the district., Mr. Fowles had done all in his power to forward the interests of the district. A tribute to Mr. Fowles. was the large gathering present, practically every family being represented. In presenting Mr. Fowles with a cheque on behalf of the settlers, Mr. Wells said that it was their earnest wish that Mr. and Mrs. Fowles and family would have good health and prosperity wherever they might go. A travelling rug was presented to Mr. Fowles by Mr. W. Hawkins on behalf of toe factory staff. As a “boss,” Mr. Fowles was “one of the best” and that went a long way with the employees, he said. The staff appreciated the kindness and hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Fowles, who had always, ffiade their home an open house to the staff. Mr. Fowles replied. The evening was spent in dancing and playing euchre. Messrs. C. Sole .and H. Wells were the masters of ceremonies and Miss F. Smith played the dtace music. The euchre was conducted by Messrs. J. Jones and C. Revell, the winners being Miss M. Corbett and Mr. GSole. ■ ‘, The supper arrangements were made by Mesdames Corbett, B. Doyle, R. Julian and Messrs. J. Gooder, C. Muir and Burns. .* ■ ' ' A musical programme was provided by Mrs. P, Sole (songs), Miss L. Sole (songs), Mrs. D. Longley (songs), Mr. P. Sole (song) and Mr. D. Wells (sohgs). The accompaniments w-ere played by Mesdames Sole and Longley and Miss Smith.
