FORGERY CHARGE AT SYDNEY. ANOTHER CASE IN HIGHER COURT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 11.30 p.m. Sydney, Aug. 23. At the Central Police Court to-day the magistrate refused a police application for the further remand of Patrick Brady, the man charged with the shark arm murder in which bail was allowed, on a charge of forgery. Brady was accord-* ingly discharged. The police prosecutor intimated that he was unable to obtain the attendance of witnesses. Mr. Landa, who appeared for Brady, argued that the present charge was merely a “hold charge.” Another charge was pending against Brady in the Higher Court.
The magistrate said it did not seem fair to hold the charge over Brady’s head unless there was tangible reason. The police could prosecute him again at a later stage if they so desired.
