YOUNG ’ MECHANIC INJURED. STRATFORD GARAGE ACCIDENT. When the rear of a two and a half ton truck slipped off its support in Messrs. Kleeman and Bishop’s garage yesterday Rex Dennis, a 19-year-old mechanic, was caught underneath it, and suffered severe chest injuries and an injury to his left leg He was unconscious when rushed to hospital immediately afterwards, but was reported to be progressing satisfactorily last night. The result of the X-ray examination were not then known. Dennis was underneath the truck just before noon adjusting a jack to raise the rear of the lorry on to some oil drums, which were ; to support it after the jack was removed. Apparently one drum become misplaced so that when the jack was released the truck fell, and the rear axle crushed Dennis’ chest.
