► SEWING GUILD’S ACTIVITIES. The Korito Social Club held a dance in the hall on Friday evening. Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss G. Reader ’and Mr. L. Mace, and Master David Hine and Miss N. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Davis played for the dance and an. extra was played by Mri F. Maine, Hawera. The masters of ceremonies were Messrs. R. Weston, J. Martin. and. A. Miller. Mr. F. Ashman has returned from a trip to England. Mrs. R. Bowen spent a few days witn Mr. and' Mrs. Peters last week. I Miss O. Peterg has returned from a week’s holiday as the guest of Mrs. C. Harvey, Fitzroy. ? Mrs. T. Mace has returned to Opunake. The annual meeting of the Kent RoadKorito Sewing Guild was held recently. The secretary reported that the financial members numbered 13, one member having left the district, with seven junior members. Meetings were not held during the busiest months of the year. Nevertheless the output of vzork had been quite large. The articles handed to the district nurse for distribution ■ were: Boys 30 garments, girls 61, women 12, babies 35, men 1. In addition there was one large bed quilt, two cot covers, six pillows, one curtain and 74 toys. Materials for an infants’ clothing were also supplied to one family. The balance-sheet showed that the finances of the guild were in a healthy condition, this being due to the whole-heart-ed support given by friends both at NewPlymouth and in the surrounding district. Mrs. C. Parker was re-elected president and Mrs. J. Kemp secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Parker was thanked for the use of her home for holding meetings.
