BADMINTON PROVINCIAL FINAL. NEW PLYMOUTH JUST BEATEN. Hawera beat New Plymouth by 19 aces in the final of the Spalding Shield badminton competition at Hawera last night, each winning six sets. Details, with New Plymouth mentioned first, are:— Men’s doubles: Blakeney and Purser lost to Kemp and Paterson xo—ls, Collinge and Area beat Meuli and Syme 15—14, Blakeney and Purser beat Meuli and Syme 15—10, Collinge and Area beat Kemp and Paterson 15—14. Women’s doubles: Mesdames Smith and Wilton lost to Mrs. Baigent and Mjss Kemp 13—15, Misses Abraham and Webster lost to Misses Bright and Lovell 4—15, Mesdames Smith and Wilton beat Misses Bright and Lovell 15 —14, Misses Abraham and Webster lost to Mrs. Baigent and Miss Kemp 7—15. Combined doubles: Blakeney and Mrs. Smith beat Kemp and Mrs. Baigent 15— 14, Purser and Mrs. Wilton lost to Paterson and Miss Kemp 7—15, Collinge and Miss Abraham lost to Meuli and Miss Bright 12—15, Aroa and Miss Webster beat Syme and Miss Lovell 15—6.
