AIRMAN’S SOLO FLIGHT ENDS. CHANCE OF NEW RECORD LOST. By Telegraph—Press Assn.-Copyright. Rec. 11.30 p.m. Calcutta, Aug. 16. x Pilot-Officer F. B. Chapman, who is attempting a solo flight from England to Australia, made a forced landing at Sasaran Bihar. He is proceeding to Calcutta by train with his plaiie. Pilot-Officer Chapman is flying to Australia and back to see his family during a month’s leave. At Jodhpur he appeared likely to beat the existing record of 7 days 4 hours 90 minutes for a solo flight to Australia established by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith in October, 1933.

Mr. Chapman had taken three and ahalf days from Lympne to Jodhpur, whereas Sir Charles Kingsford Smith reached Karachi on the fourth day.
