CHURCH EVENING

GATHERING IN WHITELEY HALL.

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP ORGANISERS. A Methodist congregational social gathering held in Whiteley Hall, New Plymouth, last night attracted a large number of parishioners. It was organised by the men’s fellowship, the programme being arranged by Mr. W. G. Aked. Welcoming the guests, the president of the fellowship, Mr. C. E, Bellringer, said the evening had a two-fold object, to foster the spirit of fellowship in members of the congregation and to interest the men, particularly in the forthcoming silver jubilee flower show.. The programme for the evening included community singing, for which Mr. Aked conducted and Mr. C. Morshead played the music. Two competitions arranged by Mr. A. E. Berry were won by Mr. R. L. Cooper and by Mrs. Eaddy and Miss R. Okey, who tied for first place. Musical items were contributed by Mrs. Slyfield (songs), Miss A. Gilbert (pianoforte solo) and Misses A. Brodie and B. Aylward (recitations). Supper was served by the men’s fellowship.
