OKAU FIELD DAY
FARMERS’ UNION GATHERING. ENSILAGE AND HAY JUDGED. A successful field day was held at Okau under the auspices of the Farmers’ Union branch yesterday. Mr. A. G. Elliott, of the fields division of the Department of Agriculture, was present and judged several stacks of ensilage and one of hay. Mr. Elliott commented very favourably on the entries and said he was most impressed with their quality. Discussions also took place on pasture mixtures, general top-dressing and high country management. The party was entertained at luncheon in the Tongaporutu hall by members, of the W.D.F.U. Placings in the competitions were announced by Mr. Elliott as follows: — Stack Ensilage.
