AUCKLAND INSTALLATION PLANS.

FIRST EQUIPMENT IN DOMINION.

Experiments with a view to equipping the whole fleet of seven St. John ambulances at Auckland with short wave radio receiving and transmitting sets to increase the efficiency of the service are at present • being conducted. It is hoped that in the near future the first of the installations will be completed and ready for use. The ambulances will be the first motor vehicles in New Zealand to be fitted with radio receivers and transmitters, it is Stated, although the practice, is general overseas, particularly with police patrol cars. The equipment to be fitted on the ambulances is of the type that will permit the driver to be constantly tunedin to headquarters.
