ADVANCES ON LAST WEEK.

BUTTER AM) CHEESE POSITION.

The position of butter on the London market remains encouraging. A cable received yesterday by Messrs. Henry Lane and Company Ltd., Hawera, reported the price at 94s and “firm at advance.” Another message, to the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd., quoted choicest salted at 93s to 945, compared with 91s to 92s last week.

A steady market was reported to Mr. E. Griffiths, New Plymouth, in a cable from A. J. Mills and Company Ltd., London. New Zealand finest was quoted at 04s (last week 925) and firsts at 93s (945), compared with Danish 108 s (104 s Danish f.o.b. at 90s and Australian at 93s (90s, 89s),

Cheese is also firm at an advance on last week’s prices. Mr. Griffiths has been informed that New Zealand white is quoted at 455, 45s 6d (445, 44s 6d) and coloured at 44s 6d (43s 6d, 445). On the other hand new* season’s Canadian white is bringing 48s (50s) and coloured 50s (525). Advice received by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company records a firm demand at 44s 6d to 45s 6d (43s 6d to 44s 6d). Henry Lane and Company report a steady market at 455, 45s 6d and 44s 6d, 45s for coloured.
