The strains of Italian Ryegrass at present in use in New Zealand have deteriorated considerably over the past few years, besides being badly mixed with false perennial. Some years ago we imported from Europe stocks of specially selected and improved strains, which we have grown under supervision of Department of Agriculture. One of these varieties showed such marked superiority that the Department considered it worthy of certification. A limited quantity of this seed is now available for Spring sowing.
