NATION’S COLOURS
PREFERENCES DISCLOSED. It has been asserted by an authority on colours that every nation and people have their own distinctive hues. The Japanese favour blue, a'preference which is shared by the negroes of the Soudan. Traders doing business among these people find it expedient to carry as much blue material as possible. On the other hand the Congo natives, will buy only red goods, and the same remark applies to the Chinese.
It is said that much of the success attained by German merchants in China' many years ago was due to the recognition of this fact, and the goods they supplied bore red labels, and when possible were of that colour. Every colour in a nation’s flag, the expert declared, was the expression of something in the national character, red denoting courage and enterprise, white, peace and sentiment, blue placidity and thoughtfulness, and so forth. It is said that every human being has his or her peculiar colour, the discovery and use of which would favourably influence the career.
