“FLIER” TIME-TABLE

SUGGESTED CHANGE OPPOSED. EFFECT ON SCHOOL CHILDREN. A protest against any suggested alteration in tffie time-table of the New Ply-mouth-Wanganui afternoon express train was made at a meeting of Farmers’ Union members of the Alton, Kakaramea, Patea and Whenuakura districts at Kakaramea on Thursday night It was stated that the alteration suggested would mean that the train would leave Hawera at 3.4 p.m. instead of 3.44 as at present, and that such an alteration would mean either that about 60 children from the southern districts would have to lose school time or would have to use a later train, arriving at their homes at an hour up to 8 p.m. Speakers who protested against any such alteration were Messrs. A. B. Muggeridge (Alton), C. R. Honeyfield (Whenuakura), E. F. Hemingway (Patea) and W. Parsons (Whenuakura).
