INCREASE AT NEW PLYMOUTH. BAD- WEATHER'. A., DISADVANTAGE, The profit on the recent winter show of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was £l5l 13s 6d, compared with £6O 17s 5d last y<?ar when the. show .was. conducted from-Wednesday, to. Saturday, reported the secretary (Mr. W. P. Okey) to a meeting of the committee’on. Wednesday. The profit, continued the report, did not allow for any proportion of members” subscriptions. Members had been admitted free and had received women's tickets providing for four admittances. The attendance, throughout the show was in thh vicinity of 11,700, and would probably have been much ..larger had the. weather on the. first .three days of the show been reasonably fine. The actual'ticket sales Were 6424 at Is, 1144 at 6d, and 2939 at 3d. • ■ Satisfaction was expressed with the in-, creased number of w’orking exhibits and the evident desire of exhibitors to make their displays more attractive. _ It was felt, however, that considerable improvement could still be made in many directions, and with this in view a number of recommendations were noted for consideration at meetings of the society. The need for more covered space will be discussed-at an early date. . ■
