UPPER MANGOREI NEWS

BAND OF HOPE MEETING. An Upper Mangorei Band of Hope meeting was held last Saturday when the Rev. J. D. Grocott presided over a good attendance. The meeting opened with a hymn and prayer, after which items given were: Song, Mrs. Pearce; pianoforte solo, Miss A. Gilbert; violin solos, Mr. J. Abum; part songs, Misses B. Pearce, H. Johnston, C. and S. Christmas, M. Knauf, P. West and Z. Radford. Community singing was enjoyed. Miss G. Pearce and Miss A. Gilbert were accompanists. Recitations were given by Misses W. Jackson, B. Pearce, P. West, Z. Radford and Wilkie Johnston. Mr. Grocott gave interesting addresses to young and old folk. The Bible class met on Tuesday night when the Rev. J. D. Grocott took charge of a very fair attendance. The lesson was taken from the fourth chapter of St. John’s Gospel.
