Amery presided at the Empire Parliamentary joint private debate on trade, agriculture and migration, in which the New Zealander Mr. W. A. Bodkin, M.P., participated. Mr. J. H. Thomas, Secretary for the Dominions, explained some of the difficulties in arriving at meat and other agreements, Mr. Walter Elliot winding up the debate with an assurance to the conference that the British Government would closely consider Dominion arguments.
