DAIRY FACTORY ZONING
SUPPORTED AT GISBORNE
CONSIDERATION OF OVERLAPPING.
WARNING FROM BOARD CHAIRMAN.
MAY BE FORCED UPON INDUSTRY.'
By Telegraph—Press Assn.— Copyright. Gisborne, Last Night.
The overlapping of dairy factory interests came before the ward conference yesterday when the subject was intro- ■, duced by Mr. A. J. Murdoch, M.P., chairman of the Dairy Board. Mr. Murdoch said the board’s duty was to find some working plan to avoid overlapping which was costly. Costs must be reduced and cream must get into the factory at the earliest possible moment and so give the management a chance of turning out a first-class article* He suggested that factories in the Gisborne and east coast districts should confer with a view to arriving at some workable plan. Otherwise some outside body would have to come in and force a plan on them. He would prefer that factories came to an amicable arrangement. Directors of factories after hearing the chairman's view agreed to confer on a zoning scheme.
