CHARGES AGAINST PUBLIC MEN. AFRICAN CONSPIRACY CASE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Capetown, July 12. Seven directors of the Doornhoek Mines Company, including Sir Johannes van Boeschoten, were committed for trial on a charge of conspiracy to defraud. All of the accused are prominent public men of Johannesburg. The magisterial inquiry established the fact that a large number of shares were distributed to the directors as bonus shares. The shares had a sensational rise in 1934 from a few shillings to 335, later falling like a shot to 2s. Sir Johannes van Boeschoten, the chairman, stated that he was completely ignorant of the events leading to the alleged fraud of the shareholders.
