FLEMINGTON GRAND NATIONAL. DESTRUCTION OF REDDITCH. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 6.30 p.m. Melbourne, July 14. Results at the V.R.C. Grand National meeting at Flemington included:— GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE. Of £2500. Three miles one furlong. RIAWENA, 9.13 (Healy) 1 PACTOLUS, 10.7 (E. Webster). 2 ' OLDHOM'E, 105 (Hynes) ...Z 3 Nine started. Raskassa and Fulham were casualties, falling before a mile was accomplished. Pactolus, Boy Blue, Richmond Tiger, Mernbo and Redditch kept well together for two miles when the field began to spread out • ' Admirers of Redditch received a severe shock when he fell at the last fence and broke a hind leg. He was destroyed. Riawena, Oldhome, Boy Blue and Pac- , tolus alternately assumed the lead. Then Boy Blue fell and Membo began gradually to drop back. Richmond Tiger completely tailed off. Pactolus looked like a winner approaching the last jump but Riawena, ridden desperately, managed to defeat him by a head. Ten lengths away came Oldhome and half a furlong further back was Membo, with Richmond' Tiger completely out of the race. Time, 6m 345. LAWN HANDICAP. ALL AT SEA, 8.1 (Skidmore) 1 . POLDEAN, 7.0 (Percival) 2 GEYSER, 7.2 (Ayres) 3 Twelve started. Head; two lengths. Time, Im 20%5. JULY HANDICAP. \ CHARLES FOX, 8.1 (Breasley) 1 a METRO (N.Z.-bred), 7.11 (Voitre) ..2 LAST COURT, 8.4' (Sharp) 3 Fifteen started, including Epigram, V Quarto and Firebrick. Half a length; three and a-half lengths. Time, Im 465. Shatter was unplaced in the Doutta Galla Hurdles which was won by Akanree. GOLDEN CHANCE A WINNER. CANTERBURY PARK MEETING. Rec. 6.45 p.m, Sydney, July 14. Results at the Canterbury Park races were:— - , MAIDEN HANDICAP-First Division. Six furlongs. GOLDEN CHANCE (N.Z.-bred), 8.2 (R. Reed) 1 ROBBER. 9.0 (D. Munro) 2 CALWEERA, 7.2 (Parsons) 3 . Thirteen started. Two lengths each way. Time, Im 15%5. Stratosphere was unplaced in the Second Division of the Maiden Handicap. Dual Ratio finished third in the Third Division of the Maiden Handicap. King of Diamonds and Mananui were unplaced in the second division of the Flying Welter Handicap. Limbohm was unplaced in the Canterbury Handicap. Loud Speaker finished third, in the First Division of the Juvenile Handicap; Prince Pombal finished third in the Ashbury Handicap in which Forestry, - Queen Helen and Samovar were unplaced.
