Miss Catherine Fraser was the only debutante at the-New Plymouth golf ball last night. Her frock was very youthful and fresh-looking, made'as it was in silvered organdie, lightly patterned in hand-painted sprigs of apple green and gold and tiny black dots. She had chosen the demure and picturesque style of the early Victorian period, with an off-the-shoulders decolletage, edged with two tiny frills. The skirt was crisp and full, and fell to a frilled hemline which just displayed her shoes of silver brocade. She wore a saSh of apple green velvet which exactly blended with the bandeau of green velvet leaves which she wore in her. hair. Her flowers were gold pansies, arranged to form a little posy. Taranaki Women’s Club.

The fortnightly evening of the bridge club was more than usually entertaining and exciting on Wednesday because the members were divided into two teams, representing married and single. The ranks of the single, who were in the minority, were supported by the grandmothers, and the two teams were distinguished by their badges of blue and of gold. After some, exciting games the single and grandmothers vanquished the married. The. highest individual score in the winning team was secured by Miss Belle Allen.
