LOWER QUEENSLAND PPRODUCTTON STRENGTHENING OF POSITION. ? By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. .9.30 p.m. Melbourne, June 27. The Federal Government is taking steps to strengthen the economic position of the Queensland sugar industry by reducing the production. Chief sugar producing interests are co-operating. The lower production will be reflected in the next crop by approximately 70,000 tons. It is stated that the export price of sugar is well below the cost of production, while the proportion of the crop that must be exported unprofltably has been increasing.
