SKI AREA POPULAR

CONDITIONS ON EAST EGMONT. PLATEAU ROAD CLEAR OF SNOW. With the weather having built up and maintained such a fine ski-ing surface on the ski grounds above Manganui Hut on the Stratford side of Mt. Egmont, the Stratford side is being patronised every week by a steadily growing number of visitors. Last week-end, despite the fact that the Plateau Road was under snow and that visitors had therefore to walk from the Stratford House to the ski grounds instead of driving to the plateau as well as on to the hut, about 60 people made the trip to the grounds while others contented themselves with runs down the Plateau Road. ’ 1 \

At the week-.end and during the past week a surprising number of visitors from other provinces were at the resort and enjoyed conditions that their own localities could not offer. Though the rain of Monday and Tuesday washed the snow off the road above the house, plenty was left at the Manganui Hut and those making the hut their objective on Thursday were lucky to find a light fall of snow which made the running good. With the PlatSa Road clear of snow and good weather continuing, it is expected that large numbers will visit the hut this week-end.

ELTHAM TALKIES. “WE’RE NOT DRESSING.” “We’re Not Dressing,” the picture to be shown at the Eltham Theatre to-night only, is one of the entertainments that pleases everybody. It has a little of everything, music, song, comedy and a good story. The leading role is taken by Bing. Crosby, who is ably supported by Carole Lombard, George Bums, Gracie Allen, Ethel Merman, and Leon Errol. The story is that of a luxury pleasure yacht wrecked on a South Sea island and the adventures of its passengers. One is never too old to like this type of story. Crosby sings more song hits than in any previous picture and he is ably supported in this respect by Carole Lombard.
